Biofeedback is used by some complementary and alternative therapy practitioners It helps the practitioner to measure or monitor a number of things, for example, variations in skin temperature, blood pressure, galvanic skin response (GSR), heart rate, tension, anxiety. The practitioner is then in a better position to help the client or patient with his or her issue. Changes are observed in real time, thus the therapist can customise the therapy. There are different devices / monitors used for different functions. Some are very good (and hence expensive), others are aimed at the self-help market (the cheaper versions with minimum functionality - thus not suitable for professional use):
If you are a professional practitioner, it pays to shops around - don't just compare pricing - look at the functionality. Some cheaper devices will limit the information you can observe. The more information you get, the more effective your sessions. best wishes Copyright, 2007: KK Complementary
therapies are offered in conjunction with our fellow
professionals. Where beneficial to you, we may suggest a
“combo” program, combining all or some of the therapies
