If you have any fears (and who doesn't?), you normally get over the fear quickly without any adverse effects. It's just a little nervousness in anticipation of whatever you're expecting. In moments, the fear or nervousness is gone. However, when fear takes hold, the fear itself becomes greater than the thing feared. It becomes a loop or a vicious circle that you can't seem to escape. The harder you try, the stronger the fear becomes. You develop a phobic response. A phobia is therefore more difficult to overcome on your own. Why? Because the fear or phobic reaction resides and starts in the subconscious part of your mind. Consciously, you know full well that (for example) a tiny little bug can't do you any harm. However, your subconscious mind is sending other signals - the heart starts beating faster, you suddenly start feeling hot or cold, you want to get out of the situation right now, you feel out of control, the panic sets in. You can't think calmly and logically anymore. It's like the "snowball" effect - your fear gathers momentum until it is in control - leaving you out of control. Eliminate fears and phobias ... There are some methods that still require 10 or more sessions to overcome a simple phobia. You are exposed to the fear gradually. In the process, you are put through "trauma" and "tears" - but by the end of the therapy, you have a very good chance that your fear has disappeared. Even today, some therapies use very negative methods to deal with fears and phobias. Some of the techniques make good television. Very polished and dramatic ... not necessarily good for you if you are the "subject", but no doubt very entertaining for the TV viewers. Advanced fear and phobia removal techniques bypass the need for "trauma", "tears" or "theatrical performances". They focus on you. The aim is to remove the fear or phobia in as little as one or two sessions. However, some people may require more sessions - we are all individuals and we all react differently. The good news is whichever method you opt for (gradual exposure or rapid techniques), fears and phobias can be removed. Your "issue" is not unique to you - countless others suffer the same. Some choose to lead a healthy, happy life by consulting a professional to remove the fear or phobia. Others continue suffering in silence.
