A lady contacted me and asked for help so she could get a good night's sleep! She said she would take 30 to 45 minutes to switch off before falling asleep. After a while she would get up again. It would then take her some time before being able to get some more sleep. Sometimes, she would get up several times. After establishing that she did not have any medical issues (she had been to the doctor for other non related issues), I helped her to do some relaxation exercises. As she lived over 2 hours away, she only visited me that one time. After a couple of months, she telephoned to say "Thanks" - immediately after that one session, she had been able to sleep easily and throughout the night. She also said she had another "issue" she had not told me about at the session - but that issue had also disappeared because of my therapy and techniques. Now, that is not to say that everyone responds that wonderfully in just one session. Some people take longer to respond (3 to 6 sessions) - it all depends upon how much they are willing to go with the process. An open minded approach works better than one where you come in with many preconceptions. I guide you - but you have to make the real changes. At the other extreme, a client with medical issues consulted me about his sleep issues. After getting a referral from his doctor, I was able to help him with sleep improvement techniques. He reported that he didn't notice any "real" difference for the first three sessions. However, with subsequent sessions, he started sleeping better. After session six, his sleep returned to normal - he was sleeping throughout the night. NB: In some cases, a medical referral is required. Remember: staged entertainment TV or stage shows have zero to do with professional therapy. Such shows are there to entertain and to get audiences.
