"Controlling stress helps fight chronic diseases such as Lupus

  • Lupus is an autoimmune disease affecting more than 5 million people around the world, and makes the immune system attack the body’s cells and tissue as if they were enemies.

  • It particularly affects women of fertile age between 15 and 44 years old.

  • Research shows that reducing stress in people suffering from lupus also decreases some symptoms of this disease such as inexplicable loss of weight, feeling of fatigue, continuous fever or pain and inflammation in joints.

  • Patients who received psychological therapy significantly reduced their levels of stress, anxiety and depression, achieving even lower levels than those of the general population." University of Granada (Universidad de Granada)

Big Companies Bury Heads in Sand Over Stress

Stress continues to torment companies according to the Employee Benefits/ HSA Healthcare Research. The survey finds that although stress remains a key issue for all employers, it appears to be especially concerning for large companies, and those within the public sector.

In fact, 47% of companies believe stress is a key cause of sickness absence. This figure rises to 64% of respondents with more than 10,000 employees, and goes up to 86% among public sector organisations according to the research.

The Law Society's Gazette reports a 26% increase in lawyers seeking help for stress and workplace crises. ("Risk Management" 13 July 2006, page 31)

Aside from the confirmed figure mentioned above, just imagine the additional number of professionals who are too stressed out to seek help for stress! Or those who just don't know where to turn for guidance or mentoring. Or those who simply don't know that there are answers and alternatives. They may not even be aware that they are seriously stressed  (because they have become accustomed to constant high pressure). But sooner or later, they pay a price for such pressure.

Some people report that a little bit of stress has positive effects, for instance, it makes them more alert, etc. However, if they are unaware about stress relief and stress management, their stress levels may get dangerously out of control.

"Workplace stress is the most frequently cited reason U.S. employees consider leaving their jobs. While employers acknowledge that stress is affecting business performance, few are taking steps to address it, according to two surveys by Watson Wyatt Worldwide, a leading global consulting firm.

Nearly half of U.S. employers (48 percent) say stress caused by working long hours is affecting business performance. However, only 5 percent are addressing this concern."

Working longer in life may cause an increase in demand for complementary therapies, latest research by health plan provider HSA has revealed. HSA UK Feb 2007

Research released by healthcare benefits provider HSA and Employee Benefits magazine has found that workplace stress is becoming an increasing problem for employers. The annual Healthcare survey which was conducted among 431 HR professionals reveals that stress is now the second main cause of workplace absence behind minor ailments such as cold and flu.

Amanda Wilkinson, editor of Employee Benefits, says: "Stress has reared its head again as one of the major causes of sickness absence, therefore it makes sense to have a specific strategy to deal with the problem. Despite the high profile that stress often attracts, just under a third of respondents appear to have a strategy in place to help reduce it in the workplace. ..."

Businesses Urged to Help Employees Deal With Stress More Positively

New Report Highlights Dangerous Responses To Stress Among Employees

UK workers are most likely to turn to alcohol, smoking and comfort eating to help them deal with the stress of their occupations, according to a new 'Stroke in Business' report* from The Stroke Association, in association with Siemens. The report highlights the high levels of stress felt in many industries and the often unhealthy ways in which workers respond, potentially leading to serious health problems including increased risk of stroke. The 'Stroke in Business report' calls for UK employers to do more to encourage staff to use exercise to "de-stress".

The Stroke in Business report found that 73% of the UK workforce feels stress as a result of work, with the most common ways of dealing with stress being to get angry (47%); eat more (43%); cry (38%); drink more (34%) and smoke more (23%). Many of these responses are likely to lead to increased blood pressure, which in turn can increase the risk of serious health problems such as stroke, the third biggest killer in the UK.

Amongst those surveyed the recruitment sector was identified as the most stressful working environment, with 82% of recruitment consultants regularly feeling stressed, followed by the legal profession (78%), education (73%), marketing (71%), health (70%) and finance (68%). Housewives also made the top ten, with 64% regularly feeling the strain of their daily work in and around the home.

DOES STRESS MANAGEMENT THERAPY / HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?

  • Yes! My approach is powerful and empowering.

  • I have worked with analytical, intellectual and even sceptical people - they benefit and they come back for improvements in other areas.

HOW can you benefit from Stress Relief / Hypnotherapy Sessions / Hypnotherapy Workshops / Relaxation Training?

There Are TWO Ways:-

1) I can run group sessions for relaxation management. Each group would have a maximum of 4 or 5 participants to make this effective for each participant.

2) I can offer a mentor program on a one to one basis. This would be a custom made program just for you. It can involve as few or as many sessions as you wish. You'll find this program is far more effective as I will be working with you to develop your individual requirements.

NOTE 1:- The mentoring and the relaxation management sessions are equally useful for all professionals, lawyers, doctors, nurses, dentists, accountants, business managers, support staff, etc.

NOTE 2:- For personal clients, my approach is useful with a number of issues:- hypnotherapy to remove fears, hypnotherapy for pain control, hypnotherapy for weight loss and slimming, stop smoking with hypnotherapy, hypnotherapy for confidence, motivation, self esteem, etc. (Different charges apply).
